Our TMS program is scheduled to open August 2025.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for treatment resistant depression.
At Redbud Behavioral Health, we understand how exhausting it can be to try treatment after treatment and still feel weighed down by depression. If therapy and medication haven’t brought the relief you’re looking for, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) may be a next step worth exploring.
TMS is a non-invasive, FDA-approved treatment for depression that hasn’t responded to traditional approaches. It uses gentle magnetic pulses to stimulate the areas of the brain involved in mood regulation—helping to “reboot” patterns that have become stuck. There’s no medication involved, no sedation, and no downtime. You’re awake during the session, and you can return to your regular routine right afterward.
At Redbud, we provide TMS in a calm and comfortable setting, guided by a team who takes the time to really understand your needs. Before we begin, we’ll sit down together to talk through your experience with depression, your treatment history, and your goals. If TMS is a good fit, we’ll walk you through the process step-by-step and create a treatment plan that’s tailored to you. Typically, sessions happen five days a week for several weeks, and many people begin to notice improvements in mood, focus, and overall outlook as treatment progresses.
TMS isn’t the right fit for everyone—but for many, it offers a renewed sense of hope and a path forward. If you’re curious or wondering if this might be right for you, we’re here to answer questions and help you feel supported every step of the way.
You don’t have to keep feeling stuck. We’re here to help.

FAQs

TMS isn’t painful, but you might feel a tapping or tingling sensation on your scalp during the session. Most people find it manageable and get used to it quickly. If anything feels uncomfortable, we’ll work with you to adjust the settings so you feel at ease.
-
A typical TMS session lasts about 20 to 40 minutes. You’ll be seated comfortably, and you’re awake the whole time. There’s no recovery period—you can head straight back to your day when the session is done.

Everyone’s experience is a little different. Some people notice changes in their mood or energy after the first couple of weeks, while for others it takes a bit longer. We’ll be checking in with you regularly throughout the process to track progress and make sure the treatment is supporting you the way it should.

In many cases, yes—most major insurance plans cover conventional rTMS typically delivered as daily treatments five days a week over several weeks for depression that hasn’t improved with other treatments like medication or therapy. We’re happy to verify your benefits and help you understand what’s covered and what the process looks like.
There are also accelerated TMS protocols—a newer approach where multiple sessions are delivered each day over a shorter time frame. While this option may be a good fit for some people, it’s important to know that most insurance plans do not cover accelerated TMS at this time. If you're interested, we can walk you through both options and help you decide what’s right for you, based on your needs and what’s financially feasible.
