Depression is exhausting — and for some people, traditional medications simply aren’t enough.

If you’ve tried multiple antidepressants without lasting relief, you may have treatment-resistant depression (TRD). This doesn’t mean you’re out of options — it means you may need a different approach.

Spravato is an FDA-approved nasal spray for adults with TRD.

Here’s how it works:

  • Targets NMDA receptors in the brain → enhancing neuroplasticity.

  • May rapidly reduce depression symptoms.

  • Administered in-office under professional supervision for safety.

✅ Fast-acting relief

At Redbud Behavioral Health, we provide more than just Spravato sessions. Our clinic offers:

  • Comprehensive evaluations: We don’t just prescribe — we understand your full history, treatment failures, and contributing factors (insulin resistance, inflammation, sleep).

  • Multiple TRD options: Spravato, TMS, evidence-based medications (lithium, MAOIs, augmentation), metabolic psychiatry.

  • Hands-on team: Small, consistent providers who know your story.

How It Works (Simple Steps)

  1. Consultation: Determine if Spravato is right for you.

  2. Treatment: Administered 2x/week for 4 weeks (then tapered as appropriate).

  3. Monitoring & Care: You’ll be observed for ~2 hours after each session in a safe, supportive environment.

  4. Follow-up: Regular check-ins to track progress and adjust treatment.

FAQs

  • Some patients feel dissociation during treatment, which resolves within 1–2 hours. Sessions are supervised to provide support if needed.

  • Some people have an immediate reduction in symptoms with their first treatment, more often patients report improvement after the first few treatments, some require eight weeks of treatment to see an effect, and some do not respond.

  • We are in-network with Anthem/BCBS & Cigna commercial (non-Medicaid/Medicare) plans. These plans often cover esketamine if you meet their criteria.

  • Yes. Esketamine was originally approved to be used in combination with an antidepressant. We may recommend medication adjustments or short-term additions to foster the neuroplastic effects of TMS.
